A few friendly faces We are very proud of the fact that the Quinta remains a small family business. And we hope that during your stay you will become friends not only of the Quinta but also of all of those who work to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible. Below are a few of the faces that you'll meet during your holiday. Cecilia Jardim, Colin Gedge and Teresa Jardim Gedge The Jardim family are the owners of the Garden Village and still all live within the grounds of the Quinta. Doubtless you will see Dona Cecilia walking the gardens of her Quinta during your stay, and you may well bump into either Colin Gedge or Teresa Gedge, Dona Cecelia's daughter, the President of the Madeira Amateur Dramatic Society, a local theatre group who's members come from all parts of the world! Marina Bayntun Marina is one of the grandaughters of Cecilia Leitão Jardim, the owner of the Quinta. Half Portuguese, half Swiss and educated in England, she now has the enviable task of keeping everything at the Quinta running smoothly. The only things that keeps her away from Reception are her two lively children and a keen interest in amateur dramatics. Manuela Pires Another one of eclectic origins, Manuela was born in Portugal, but then followed her family to South Africa where she grew up. In 1982 she settled in Madeira and worked in the tourism industry where for many years she was a senior travel representative. In 1999 Manuela joined the Quinta and you will always will find her bubbly enthusiasm for everything Madeiran very infectious. ![]() |
